EZULWINI – Residents of Ezulwini woke up to a renewed call for environmental action yesterday as the local municipality marked World Environment Day with the town-wide launch of its At-Source Waste Separation initiative.
The announcement, made on 5 June 2025, signals a major shift in how Ezulwini handles domestic waste, with households now expected to separate recyclable materials at the source. This comes as part of a broader effort to tackle plastic pollution and promote sustainable living across the area.
The initiative coincided with global observances under the theme #BeatPlasticPollution, aligning the town’s environmental goals with international efforts.
The municipality, backed by corporate sponsors MTN Eswatini, FNB Eswatini, Ezulwini Superspar, and Premier Eswatini, brought together local residents and stakeholders for a community event that featured discussions on environmental responsibility and collective solutions.
Ezulwini Municipality said the success of this new approach depends on active participation from the public and collaboration across sectors to build what it called “a plastic-free future.”
