Cape Town – The 27th Interpol African Regional Conference entered its second day yesterday in Cape Town, with delegates focusing on ways to strengthen police cooperation across the continent.
The meeting brings together law enforcement officials from across Africa to deliberate on transnational organised crime, capacity building, and collaboration between regional and international policing mechanisms.
Key discussions centre on training, skills development and efforts to increase diversity within police forces, which delegates say are critical for creating inclusive and effective institutions to protect communities.
Lieutenant General Khosi Senthumule, the SAPS Divisional Commissioner of Detective and Forensic Services, contributed to a panel discussion on stolen motor vehicles. He outlined the challenges facing law enforcement in tackling cross-border vehicle theft and shared potential solutions from a policing perspective.
