Malkerns – Unemployed youth in Malkerns have until April 17, 2026 to apply for a year-long entrepreneurship development programme launched by Enactus Eswatini in partnership with the Malkerns Town Council.
The programme will run from April 2026 to March 2027 and is open to out-of-school graduates residing within the Malkerns area. Applicants must be verified residents within the Malkerns Town Council jurisdiction and must have attained a minimum of Form 5 education.
Enactus Eswatini Country Director Sabelo Dlamini said the programme was designed to give young people what they need to build sustainable livelihoods.
“Empowering young people through entrepreneurship is critical to building resilient communities. This programme seeks to unlock the potential of youth by providing them with the necessary skills and support systems to create sustainable livelihoods,” said Dlamini.
Participants will receive intensive training in entrepreneurship fundamentals, covering how to identify viable business opportunities, develop sustainable business models and manage enterprises. The programme also includes structured mentorship, financial guidance and ongoing support throughout the year.
The selection process will place weight on clarity of vision, practicality of ideas and the ability to articulate business concepts, with preference given to ideas that show potential for scalability and job creation. Shortlisted candidates will be required to present their business ideas during an interview.
Those who complete the programme will receive certification from Enactus Eswatini.
The initiative follows the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Enactus Eswatini and the Malkerns Town Council. Acting Town Clerk Nokwanda Kgomo said the partnership represented a shared commitment to the area’s young people.
“This Memorandum of Understanding represents a shared commitment to empowering our youth, promoting innovation, and driving sustainable community development. By combining our institutional support with the energy and creativity of young people, we are confident this partnership will unlock meaningful opportunities and deliver lasting impact for Malkerns and beyond,” said Kgomo.
Enactus is a global non-profit organisation operating in 35 countries, working at the intersection of youth empowerment, entrepreneurship and sustainable development.
