Taiwan doctors train interns on hypertension care

Mbabane – A team from the Taiwan Medical Mission in Eswatini has conducted a training session for intern doctors aimed at improving the management of cardiovascular diseases, with a strong focus on hypertension.

The session was led by Dr. Kuang-Hsing Chiang, a cardiologist from Taipei Medical University Hospital, who shared approaches on how to diagnose and manage high blood pressure. He stressed the role of lifestyle adjustments alongside proper medication in tackling the condition, which remains one of Eswatini’s most pressing health challenges.

Interns also received an in-depth review of medicines used in treating cardiovascular diseases, including their functions, side effects and precautions. The program further explored the impact of antihypertensive drugs on male sexual performance, a subject doctors noted as highly relevant to local patients.
