Dagga robbery ends in murder

Police in Pigg’s Peak are investigating a murder case after a man originally from Siphofaneni was found dead in his shack in the Mabhidzi area on the morning of December 12, 2025.

According to the Royal Eswatini Police Service, the deceased, believed to be about 35 years old or older, had settled in Mabhidzi several years ago where he was involved in dagga farming. He was discovered at about 10am by a friend inside a makeshift shelter he used while working in the dagga fields.

The friend alerted the deceased’s girlfriend, who is also the mother of his children, and the matter was reported to the police at about 12pm. Officers who attended the scene found that the man had been assaulted all over his body with an unknown object. His hands were tied with shoelaces.

Police said investigations revealed that the deceased had dagga ready for sale prior to the attack. When his body was found, the dagga was missing together with his cellphone, clothes and other personal belongings.

Preliminary investigations further indicate that the suspects proceeded to the girlfriend’s homestead where the deceased kept some of his dagga. The suspects allegedly broke into a specific house used as storage, from which only the dagga was taken.

The Royal Eswatini Police Service has appealed to members of the public who may have seen or heard anything related to the incident, or who may have information that could assist in the arrest of the suspects, to come forward. Police said information can be provided anonymously.
