A man accused of murdering South African media personality Warrick “DJ Warras” Stock will spend the festive season behind bars, with his case postponed until January.
Victor Mthethwa Majola appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where he was formally charged with premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Stock, a prominent figure in the media, was fatally shot on 16 December outside a building near the Carlton Centre in Johannesburg’s Central Business District.
The state has confirmed it will oppose Majola’s bail application. His legal representative indicated that Majola plans to apply for bail, but raised concerns about his health, alleging he was assaulted while in police custody. 
The magistrate warned Majola that if convicted, he could face a life sentence due to the severity of the charges.
The case was postponed to 6 January 2026, to allow time for the verification of Majola’s address, after which a date for his formal bail application will be set. Majola was ordered to remain in custody until then.
Stock was laid to rest on Tuesday following a funeral service in Rosebank.
