Bhunya – A 30 year old man from Malutha has been arrested and charged with attempted murder following a violent incident at a social gathering in the Bhunya area on 23 December 2025.
The Royal Eswatini Police Service said the incident happened at about 1340 hours at a local drinking spot in Malutha. The victim was seated with friends, consuming beverages, when the suspect approached the group.
Police reports state that the suspect attempted to drink from the group’s beverages without permission. The friends intervened and asked him to leave their drinks alone. Tensions rose shortly afterwards, leading to the suspect leaving the scene. 
Moments later, the suspect returned armed with a knife. Without any further exchange, he allegedly stabbed the victim several times on the upper body. The victim sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
Police were alerted to the incident and responded promptly. The suspect was arrested at the scene and formally charged with attempted murder.
He is expected to appear before the Manzini Magistrates Court today to answer to the charge.
