Mbabane – A senior business delegation from Turkmenistan arrived in the Kingdom of Eswatini today and was welcomed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Pholile Shakantu, alongside the Minister of Home Affairs, HRH Princess Lindiwe.
The visit takes place in Mbabane and follows His Majesty King Mswati III’s official trip to Turkmenistan last year, a visit that opened space for closer diplomatic and economic engagement between the two countries. The delegation is led by Mr. Abdurakhmanov Khydyrberdi Bayrammyradovich, the owner and founder of Aydyn Gijeler Holding LTD, a vertically integrated industrial company with operations in manufacturing, infrastructure, electronics and information technology solutions.
Eswatini’s Ambassador to the United Nations, H.E Thami Dlamini, is coordinating and facilitating the delegation’s programme during its stay in the country.

On August 5, 2025, Eswatini and Turkmenistan formalised their bilateral engagement through the signing of a Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations. The agreement was signed by H.E Senator Pholile Shakantu on behalf of Eswatini and H.E Rasi Meredow representing Turkmenistan. The protocol sets out a framework for diplomatic, economic and technical cooperation between the two states.
The relationship carries strategic value for both countries, which are inland nations facing comparable development needs. The cooperation opens prospects in key areas including energy, agriculture, climate resilience, infrastructure development and technology, while also strengthening coordination in multilateral platforms focused on peacebuilding and sustainable development.
