Katima Mulilo – The Namibia Revenue Agency reported on Thursday, March 26, 2026, that Namibia and Zambia have operationalised the One Stop Border Post at Katima Mulilo after four days of high level engagements aimed at strengthening regional integration.
The development followed meetings of the Joint Technical Committee, which brought together officials from both countries to fine tune the operational framework of the border facility. The sessions laid the groundwork for the final engagement where senior officials moved to formalise the arrangement.
Commissioner Sam Shivute signed the agreements on behalf of the Namibia Revenue Agency, while Zambia was represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, Ms Mwaka Mukubesa. 
The One Stop Border Post at Katima Mulilo is designed to allow travellers and goods to be cleared through a single, coordinated process conducted by officials from both countries, reducing delays and easing congestion along the busy trade corridor.
Authorities say the initiative is intended to speed up border procedures, improve the movement of goods and services and strengthen economic cooperation between Namibia and Zambia. The arrangement is also expected to boost trade volumes, stimulate growth, create employment opportunities and improve livelihoods in communities that rely on cross border commerce.
