Taiwan eyes up to $80m investment in Eswatini industrial park

Mbabane – Taiwan is planning to inject between US$50 million and US$80 million into Eswatini’s rural science park, with the investment set to establish a headquarters and five factories focusing on knitting, woodworking, printing and embroidery.

The announcement was made by Head of Business Delegation Ray Lin at the Eswatini and Taiwan Investment Workshop held at The Mountain View Hotel, where business leaders and government officials gathered to explore opportunities for deeper economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade was represented at the seminar by Principal Secretary Ambassador Melusi Masuku, who delivered remarks on behalf of the Minister. He pointed to the strong and growing economic partnership between Eswatini and Taiwan, noting the increasing interest from Taiwanese companies to invest in the Kingdom, particularly following the establishment of the Taiwan Industrial and Innovation Park, known as TIIP.

Masuku said the government remains committed to fostering a conducive investment climate and encouraged diversification into non-traditional sectors. He pointed to agriculture, manufacturing, technology and tourism as strategic areas of collaboration, noting the potential for innovation, skills transfer and sustainable economic growth.

He also acknowledged Taiwan’s continued support in advancing Eswatini’s economic development agenda and encouraged businesses to explore collaborative opportunities that would drive mutual prosperity and long-term impact.

The TIIP continues to serve as a key milestone in strengthening bilateral cooperation, with multiple investment missions already received and ongoing technical engagements showing promising progress.
