Wall collapse kills two girls in Engweni

Engweni – Two young girls have died after a wall collapsed on them while they slept at a home in the Dlangeni area of Engweni, near Lobamba, in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The tragedy unfolded at around 4am on 23 April when the back wall of the house where the children were sleeping gave way. The girls, aged 11 and 9, were struck by the falling wall and sustained serious injuries.

Both children were rushed to hospital but could not be saved, and were later certified dead by medical staff.

Lobamba Police have since opened an inquest docket to establish the full circumstances surrounding the deaths of the two sisters.
