Three face court over Big Bend irrigation workshop theft

Big Bend – Three men are set to appear in court on Monday after Big Bend Police arrested them in connection with the theft of eight HDPE pipes and a 30-metre copper cable from an irrigation workshop in Big Bend.

The stolen goods, discovered missing on 23 April at around 6am, were valued at a combined E103,600. The eight HDPE pipes were worth E11,600 while the copper cable alone was valued at E92,000.

Police moved quickly after the report was made, launching an investigation that linked a 25-year-old security guard from Ngcina, who was employed at the workshop, to the theft. He was arrested alongside a 48-year-old man from KaShoba and a 38-year-old man from Mphaphati area, all on 23 April.

The eight HDPE pipes were recovered following the arrests. The three suspects are facing a theft charge when they appear before court on Monday.
