Mankayane – The Mankayane Town Board hosted a strategic development meeting on Monday, 4 May 2026, presenting several key projects to a government delegation that included two cabinet ministers and a senior Commerce Ministry official.
Minister of Housing and Urban Development Hon. Appolo Maphalala and Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Hon. Bongani Nzima attended the meeting in Mankayane Town, alongside Zamanyambose Mtetwa, the Director of Industries in the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade, who represented Minister of Commerce Hon. Manqoba Khumalo.
The meeting was called by the Mankayane Town Board to present the town’s key strategic development priorities and to seek advice and guidance from the delegation.
Among the projects presented was an industrial site and township development consisting of 81 serviced plots, each measuring 5 000 square metres, with room for expansion. The Mabovini Township development plan was also on the table, alongside a proposed Civic Centre that is now under consideration for redesign into a multi-service government hub.
The Mankayane Sports Ground development plan was also reviewed by the board during the meeting.
