Mbabane – Film lovers in Eswatini are in for a treat this week as the European Union Film Festival continues at the Eswatini Theatre Club in Mbabane, running until Saturday 16 May 2026, with free entry for all.

The four-day festival, supported by the Alliance Française Mbabane, brings together a selection of films from across Europe and beyond, giving local audiences a rare opportunity to experience international cinema on their doorstep.

Cork and Co. is on-site throughout the festival to keep attendees refreshed, with wine available during screenings.

“Free entry. Great films. Even better wine. See you there,” the organisers said.

Tonight, Thursday 14 May, doors open at 15:30 with the Polish film Brzezina, followed by the Swedish production The Dance Club, before the Danish film Mr Nobody Against Putin closes the evening.

Tomorrow, Friday 15 May, doors open at 16:00 with the Finnish film After Us, The Flood, followed by a local Eswatini production Khumbini, and the French film Adieu Les Cons, known in English as Bye Bye Morons.

The final day on Saturday 16 May opens at 12:00, with the Irish film Mrs. Robinson screening at 12:30, followed by the Cypriot film Pause at 14:15 and The Dance Club from Sweden at 17:00.

The festival is supported by the Ambassade de France, the Austrian Embassy Pretoria, the Austrian Cultural Forum, the Goethe Institut, the Institut Français, the Embassy of Finland Maputo, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Pretoria, Ireland, Sweden and the Department of Contemporary Culture.
