The break-in was discovered in the early hours of Sunday, 25 May 2026, at around 3:40am. According to police, the unknown suspects gained entry through the roof of the building, made their way to an office inside where the money was kept, and fled with the entire amount.

The Royal Eswatini Police Service is calling on anyone who may have seen or heard something suspicious around that time, or who has any information that could assist with the investigation, to come forward and contact their nearest police station.

Police also took the opportunity to remind businesses across the country to always deposit their cash at the bank at the end of each business day. For businesses that are unable to bank over weekends when banks are closed, police advised that money should be stored in a secure location to prevent such losses.
