Mbabane – Thulani Fakudze has been named the new managing director of the Eswatini Posts and Telecommunications (EPTC), bringing an end to the parastatal’s nine-month absence of leadership.
Senator Savannah Maziya, the Minister of Information, Communication, and Technology, made the statements in front of the board on Thursday, asking him to serve with integrity. Fakudze, who formerly served as the Eswatini Communications Commission technical director, takes over after the vacation of Themba Khumalo in August 2025.
The minister advised him and all designated leaders in state-owned firms to respect their positions, work diligently, and avoid corruption and interference. Maziya said the incoming MD must deliver on his mandate of growing EPTC, be accountable and work well with everyone.
“Work on bringing in a culture of honesty, of integrity, of being professional.
“I would like the new MD to also think about how to bring in a culture of kindness amongst each other. That you respect each other as individuals. The fact that you are leading the organisation actually makes you the servant of the organisation. Do not come in with an attitude to say, “Well, I’m the MD; everything I say goes.” “And everything that we do also makes sure the EMA accounts are proper,” Maziya said.
The minister said parastatals, or government institutions, ought to keep it in mind that they are responsible for taxpayers’ money.
She sternly warned him to steer clear of political interference, saying, “Never let people like me put you in a position where your integrity will be questioned. ” Don’t say, ‘Because I’m a minister, I must allow you to do things that are illegal.'”
The chairman of the EPTC board Kwanele Magagula said he trusts that they will work well with Fakudze. Magagula said the recruitment process was conducted in a transparent manner and that Fakudze got the position on merit.
Fakudze said he will maintain being humble and respectful. He also said he commits to serving with diligence, saying that there are a number of projects in the pipeline.
