Pigg’s Peak – The third Inyatsi Schools Arts and Culture Competition edition today moves to the Manzini region after pupils from various schools battled it out with talent showcases under the Hhohho region for prizes yesterday.

The acts included traditional boys’ and girls’ dances (sibhaca, ummiso), African dance and drum majorettes, and theatre performances, with three schools, including Mayiwane and Timphisini high schools, now preparing to compete with other regions.
The Inyatsi Schools Arts and Culture Competition is in celebration mode with Mandla Shongwe thanking the Inyathi Foundation for their sponsorship since 2024. He noted that the competition has allowed the blending of traditional performances and games to continue and this year’s theme is, ‘Honouring 40 Years of Legacy Through Arts and Culture’.

The Inyatsi Foundation and Genesis Ekucaleni Media are among the sponsors providing continued support for the competition.
Shongwe said Pigg’s Peak taking the first baton did not disappoint, with Hhohho’s northern schools turning up in numbers, beginning this year;s programme from as early as 7am with events ending at 4pm.
“We began from Pigg’s Peak in northern Hhohho, and today we are going to the Manzini region,” Shongwe said, adding that the event will continue today at the Lobamba Technical Centre.
Tomorrow the competition proceeds to the Shiselweni region and ends at southern Hhohho on Thursday.
The tournament helps to promote and preserve arts and culture, allowing Eswatini to compete fairly and indefinitely with locally recruited talent. Shongwe asked the government to support the project, which is gaining momentum.
