MBABANE, September 21, 2026 Eswatini’s Emergency Medical Services, known as Bomasheshisa, has taken part in a Road Incident Management System (RIMS) simulation conducted at the Oshoek Border on the South African side.
The exercise was held on Friday and involved Bomasheshisa officials led by the Head of Department, Dr Mhlanga, working alongside Eswatini Fire and Emergency Services, the Royal Eswatini Police Service and South African first responders.
The simulation was designed to improve cooperation between emergency response agencies on both sides of the Eswatini and South Africa border, particularly when dealing with road traffic incidents requiring coordinated intervention. 
The exercise gave the participating teams an opportunity to test their response procedures, strengthen communication and improve coordination during emergencies occurring in the border area.
Road Incident Management Systems are intended to bring different emergency services together during road incidents so that rescue, medical response, fire services, policing and other interventions can be coordinated effectively.
Emergency Medical Services 977 Eswatini said the joint exercise was an opportunity to strengthen cross border coordination and build emergency response capabilities.
The service said effective cooperation between first responders remains important in ensuring that road traffic incidents are managed efficiently and that affected people receive assistance as quickly as possible.
