The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MoPWT) has partnered with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and ESSCOM to establish a new innovation and skills hub at the University of Eswatini (UNESWA).
The facility, known as the UNIPOD, will be constructed at the UNESWA Library and is intended to provide young people with a dedicated space to develop practical skills, assess their career interests and prepare for opportunities in the world of work.
The project is designed to respond to the changing demands of the job market by giving young Emaswati access to modern tools and technologies that can support skills development and innovation. 
Once operational, the UNIPOD is expected to be equipped with a range of skills development resources, including artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and other equipment for both soft skills and technical training.
The facility will be located within the university environment, allowing it to draw on UNESWA’s academic community while also serving young people beyond the campus who are looking to improve their employability, develop practical competencies and explore different career paths.
The partnership brings together the infrastructure mandate of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport with the technical and development expertise of UNDP and ESSCOM.
