Man held with dagga worth R3.3 million

Nelspruit – Police arrested a 32-year-old man on Thursday, September 11, for allegedly trafficking dagga valued at about R3.3 million.

The White River K9 Unit intercepted a vehicle with Gauteng registration plates on the R40 around 07:30, acting on information about dagga being transported along the N4. A search of the vehicle uncovered 21 bales of dagga weighing 548 kilograms.

The suspect has been charged with trafficking and dealing in dagga and is scheduled to appear at Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court today, September 12.

Acting Provincial Commissioner of Mpumalanga, Major General Zeph Mkhwanazi, praised the swift action of police and acknowledged members of the public whose tip-offs aided the operation.
