Afreximbank and CAF back Africa sports development

Cairo – Afreximbank and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding and a Partnership Agreement aimed at driving investment and development across Africa’s sports industry. The signing took place today and was completed by Afreximbank Executive Vice President Kanayo Awani and CAF Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba.

The partnership will mobilize financing for modern sports infrastructure, support youth tournaments, and promote the production and use of Made-in-Africa sportswear. Afreximbank said the collaboration aligns with its broader strategy to grow Africa’s creative economy and advance the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

“Sports is a powerful enabler of youth empowerment, regional integration, and economic opportunity,” said Awani. She noted that the partnership will transform Africa’s talent and creativity into sustainable enterprise, supporting both economic growth and social development.
