Matsapha – A group of officers from the Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) has successfully completed the Assessment for Mission Service (AMS), qualifying them for deployment in African Union Peace Support Operations (AUPSO). The four-day evaluation exercise, which began on December 16, 2025, tested the officers’ readiness for international peacekeeping duties.
The officers, representing various units including the Peace Programming Section (PPS), Individual Police Officers (IPOs), and Formed Police Units (FPUs), underwent a series of assessments that included language proficiency, driving tests, weapon handling, shooting drills, and formal presentations. These exercises were conducted in line with the African Union’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for deploying officers in peace support operations.
The AMS was led by a team from the African Union Commission (AUC), consisting of ACP Lithakong Emmanuel Ntlaba, AIG Lilian Okembo, ASP Maxime Figaro, Colonel David Magongo, Mrs. Adey Tamire, and Mrs. Rinass Abdella. The assessment followed a verbal instruction issued by the African Union’s Peace Support Operations Division, authorizing the evaluation of Eswatini’s officers.
Following the conclusion of the assessment, the team visited the National Commissioner’s Office in Mbabane, where they presented the results of their evaluation. National Commissioner Manoma Vusie Masango expressed his gratitude to the AUC team for their professionalism and dedication. He noted that having officers qualified for AU peace missions further strengthens the global standing of the Royal Eswatini Police Service.
Officers who pass the selection process are now eligible for deployment to any African Union peace mission or can be placed on standby for future assignments.
