Johannesburg – More details have emerged about the iCaur V27, the Chery-owned brand’s first range-extending electric vehicle heading to South Africa in 2026. The retro-styled V27 will join two other models planned for the market, the V23 and the all-electric 03T.
The V27 was first unveiled in Dubai in August and later featured at Chery’s International User Summit in Wuhu. The model will be marketed under the iCaur brand in South Africa and is expected to become the flagship above the V23. The SUV seats five and measures 5 055 mm in length, 1 976 mm in width, 1 894 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2 910 mm. Its design shows clear inspiration from the Toyota Land Cruiser 70-series at the front and bears similarities to the last-generation Isuzu Trooper at the rear.

Inside, the V27 will feature a 15.4-inch infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a 23-speaker sound system, LiDAR, and a digital instrument cluster integrated into the dashboard.
Under the hood, the V27 debuts Chery’s “Golden Range Extender” powertrain, combining a 1.5 T-GDI petrol engine producing 105 kW with a 34.3 kWh battery powering either a single or dual electric motor. The SUV delivers 184 kW in rear-wheel drive form and 335 kW in dual-motor four-wheel drive. According to China’s CLTC testing, the V27 has an all-electric range of 210 km and a combined range of up to 1 200 km.
Further specifications and pricing details are expected when pre-orders open in China in mid-January, ahead of the V27’s sales launch in the first quarter of the year.
