MBABANE – Inmates at the Mbabane Correctional Centre were left reflecting on their lives and faith after watching The Passion of the Christ, a film that portrays the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
The screening took place at the correctional facility in Mbabane and was facilitated by Campus Crusade for Christ as part of its ongoing outreach programme aimed at spreading the Gospel and bringing hope to those behind bars.
According to His Majesty’s Correctional Services, the emotionally charged film stirred deep reactions among inmates, with many visibly touched by the message. Some took time to reflect on their personal journeys, while others expressed a renewed desire to draw closer to God following the viewing.
Correctional officers who attended the session reported a calm and contemplative atmosphere inside the centre after the film ended. Inmates were seen engaging in prayer and quiet reflection, creating what officials described as a moment of collective introspection within the facility.
Authorities at the Mbabane Correctional Centre welcomed the initiative, pointing to the role faith based programmes continue to play in rehabilitation efforts across the country. They said such engagements contribute to personal transformation, improved behaviour and a renewed sense of purpose among offenders.
