BADEA chief visits Namibia to deepen ties

Windhoek, Namibia – The President of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, Abdullah Khalil Al Musaibeeh, is in Namibia for a three day introductory visit aimed at strengthening cooperation and unlocking new areas of partnership.

The visit follows an invitation from Namibia’s Minister of International Relations and Trade, Selma Ashipala Musavyi, and seeks to consolidate existing relations while exploring fresh collaboration in trade, investment and development aligned to Namibia’s Sixth National Development Plan.

Al Musaibeeh was received earlier by Ashipala Musavyi alongside Works and Transport Minister Veicco Nekundi, Finance Minister Ericah Shafudah and Deputy Minister of Education, Sports, Arts and Culture Dino Balotti. Their discussions centred on strengthening bilateral cooperation and identifying priority sectors that match Namibia’s national development goals.

The Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, known as Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa, provides concessional loans to both public and private institutions. It also finances projects in trade, infrastructure, agriculture, rural development and social services, while extending grants to support capacity building.

Officials said the engagements will include meetings with key players from the public and private sectors to assess further areas of collaboration.

Namibia and BADEA have maintained a longstanding development partnership, particularly in infrastructure expansion, agricultural growth and financial cooperation.
