The Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy, through the Department of Water Affairs, is conducting nationwide consultations with traditional leaders as part of the review of the Water Act 2003.

The process recently reached the Lubombo Region where the department met with traditional leaders to gather input on challenges linked to the current water law and possible areas of improvement. The consultations form part of a broader national programme that will cover all four regions of Eswatini.

Officials say the engagement is intended to collect views from traditional leadership structures on gaps within the existing legislation and how the framework can be strengthened to improve water governance and sustainability across the country.
