Mbabane – Construction of a new suspended footbridge at Esihulubeni KaMbhoke has officially begun, marking a significant step towards improved connectivity and community development in the area.
The project is being implemented through the Microprojects Programme Coordinating Unit under the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development, in partnership with Engineers in Action and the residents of the community. It is expected to be completed within 10 weeks.
The launch event included a site inspection of the area where the footbridge will be built, as well as introductions of the officers and technical teams who will oversee the construction throughout the project period. Community members who volunteered to support the project were also acknowledged during the gathering, reflecting the strong sense of unity within Esihulubeni KaMbhoke. 
Key discussions during the launch centred on equipment allocation, safety measures, daily working hours, food provision for workers and volunteers, maintaining mutual respect among all participants and the timely completion of the project.
The Ministry of Economic Planning and Development said the project reflected the government’s commitment to people-centred development, where communities are active participants in creating sustainable solutions that improve daily life. The ministry commended the residents of Esihulubeni KaMbhoke for their willingness to work together in building a stronger and more connected community.
Once complete, the footbridge will improve access and safety for residents and serve as a symbol of collaboration between government, development partners and the people of the community.
