WHO congratulates Lesotho’s new health minister

Maseru – The World Health Organization’s Representative to Lesotho, Dr. Innocent Nuwagira, paid a courtesy visit on Tuesday to newly appointed Minister of Health Honourable Mamokete Ntšekhe, extending congratulations on behalf of WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and WHO Regional Director for Africa Dr. Mohamed Janabi.

During the visit, Dr. Nuwagira briefed the minister on WHO’s work in Lesotho and globally, and on the forthcoming World Health Assembly scheduled to take place in Geneva from May 18 to 23, 2026.

Minister Ntšekhe welcomed WHO’s continued support and partnership, and reiterated her ministry’s commitment to working with WHO and other partners towards achieving Universal Health Coverage and addressing Lesotho’s national health priorities.
