Mbabane – A fire broke out at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade in the early hours of Thursday, forcing the suspension of several key public services until further notice.
The incident occurred at the Ministry’s offices at the Inter-Ministerial Building on Mhlambanyatsi Road in Mbabane, prompting an emergency response from fire and rescue personnel who were deployed to the scene.
Services affected by the suspension include trading licences, liquor licences and company registration. Members of the public have been asked to hold off on visiting the Ministry for these services while assessments are underway.
The Ministry said it is working closely with the Fire Department and relevant authorities to determine the full extent of the damage.
“The Ministry is currently awaiting a full assessment report from the Fire Department, after which further communication will be issued regarding the resumption of services and any alternative arrangements,” the Ministry said in a statement signed by Principal Secretary Melusi Masuku.
The Ministry apologised for the inconvenience caused and asked for the public’s patience while the assessment is completed.
