Mbabane – EmaSwati will on Tuesday join the rest of the world in commemorating Women and Girls in Science and Girls in ICT Day 2026, with a joint event set to take place at 8:30am on May 12, 2026.
The event, organised by the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology, will be held under the leadership of ICT Minister Savannah Maziya, with ICT Principal Secretary Prince Mshishimba also expected to attend.
Among the guests confirmed for the occasion are United Nations Resident Coordinator and Representative of the UN Security Council George Wachira, and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Representative for Southern Africa Ms Halima Letamo.
Several accomplished women in science, technology and innovation from the Kingdom are set to take part in the programme, including Mrs Fikile Gama, Dr Rejoice Maseko, Prof Nonhlanhla Sukati, Dr Thabile Ndlovu, Dr Phindile C. Masangane, Dr Rejoice Malisa-van der Walt, Lwandle Simelane and Nomvelo Ngwenya.
The event will be broadcast live on ETV and Watani, with Fisiwe Vilane serving as Programme Director. Sanelisiwe Mkhwanazi and Phumelele Mokoena are also listed among those participating.
The commemoration is being jointly organised by the ITU, the Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM) and the Department of Research, Science, Technology and Innovation.
