Mbabane – The Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) has announced planned power outages across several parts of the country on Thursday, 21 May 2026, to carry out routine maintenance and other technical work.
The interruptions, scheduled to run mostly between 09:00 and 16:00, will affect communities across multiple depots and regions.
In the Lubombo region, residents in Magwanyane and surrounding areas fall under the Siteki depot, while the Big Bend depot will affect Mndobandoba, Dumisa, Mpopane and Mandvwambane. The Elangeni depot will cut power to Buka and its surrounding areas, and Sithobela residents in Gucuka, Magongolweni and Lomdashi Farm should also expect interruptions, with that area’s outage running slightly longer, from 09:00 to 17:00.
In the Shiselweni region, the Nhlangano depot will affect Madlangempisi, Bulandzeni, Mabhodleleni, Salem, Nkwene, Mawelawela, Mandvulo, Buseleni, Tholulwazi and Bhakubhaku. The Hluti depot will carry out a service construction job in Thumbela between 10:00 and 16:00, while Mankayane’s Hlohlingwe area faces an outage from 09:00 to 16:30.
In the Manzini region, two separate outages are planned. Mkhuzweni, Jubela, Moyeni and Mhlaleni will be without power from 10:00 to 16:00, while Skerksroom, Madonsa and Mangwaneni will be affected from 09:00 to 16:00. The Matsapha depot will carry out fibre wire installation work at Magevini Flats and surrounding areas from 09:30 to 16:00. Malkerns residents in Zondwako, Engwenyeni, kaJesus near Lusutfu and surrounding areas will also be affected from 09:00 to 16:00.
In the Hhohho region, Stonehenge’s outage covers Waterford Park, Nkoyoyo and surrounding areas, also from 09:00 to 16:00.
The EEC has urged members of the public to treat all electricity structures as live throughout the duration of the planned interruptions and apologised for any inconvenience caused. Queries can be directed to the EEC toll-free number 800 9000.
