Mbabane – At least five government communication officers have been reshuffled after Eswatini’s Prime Minister Russell Dlamini’s recent talks with the cadre and are expected to relocate on Monday, Eswatini Observer reported.
Hlobisile Vilakati has been moved from the Ministry of Public Service to the Ministry of Agriculture. Lindokuhle Lukhele moves from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development to the Ministry of Public Service. Gugu Masuku, who was the communications officer for the Ministry of Education and Training, relocated to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. Baphelele Dlamini worked at the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs and is to move into Masuku’s place at the Ministry of Education and Training, while Nomvuselelo Dlamini, who has been at the Ministry of Agriculture, moves to the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs.
The five are part of 22 government ministries. The shake-up aims to improve the government’s communication function, efficiency, and coordination, as well as to increase public engagement.
The premier has emphasised the importance of effective government communication, urging the enhancement of the government image through the sharing of information that impacts the government function, where he also highlighted the influence of artificial intelligence in the dissemination of information.
“I emphasised the importance of effective communication in promoting Government policies, programmes, and service delivery initiatives, as well as in shaping public perception. It is encouraging to note the gradual improvement in how our country is viewed by the international community, a testament to the dedication of our communications cadre.
“I urged the officers to continue amplifying positive, human-centred stories that showcase the real impact of Government work on the lives of emaSwati. We also discussed the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence and the need to harness its opportunities while ensuring that accurate and credible information remains visible and accessible,” Dlamini said.
Acting Government Spokesperson Thabile Mdluli confirmed the developments.
