It was a match of goals as Cody Gakpo scored one of two goals in the Netherlands’ 5-1 victory over Sweden, celebrating the 100th goal scored in 33 FIFA World Cup matches in 2026. Brian Brobbey and Gakpo both scored two goals. Crysencio Summerville scored the fifth goal. Anthony Elanga scored the Swedish goal.
In the fifth minute, Brobbey went from one end of the pitch and played the ball to Gakpo on the left wing, sprinting into the 18-yard area to convert, and it was goal one for the Netherlands. In the 12th minute, Brobbey scored his second past Isak Hien, the Sweden defender. Sweden’s Gustaf Lagerbielke pushed into an empty net, but there was already a high offside flag.

After 54 minutes, Gakpo scored his second past Kristoffer Nordfeldt of Sweden, marking goal number 100 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. There have been 33 games played. Elanga scored before Summerville capped an impressive second-half cameo with a late run.
The Netherlands collect four points, topping Group F. Sweden goes against Japan in their final group match. They need to secure a win to move past.
