Mbabane – His Royal Highness Prince Saziwengaye has been appointed to the new board of the Eswatini International Convention Centre, Ezulwini Palazzo.
HRH is one of six boards of directors announced on Thursday by the minister of tourism and environmental affairs, Jane Mkhonta-Simelane.
Advocate Mbuso Nhlanhla Simelane will chair the board. Other members include Celucolo Peter Dludlu, Samukelisiwe Mpimbili-Dlamini, Lindiwe Gwebu, and Sifiso Crispin Dlamini.
In May, His Majesty King Mswati III presided over the grand opening of the ICC and five-star hotel, which was attended by world leaders. When the king landed, he also took Taiwanese President Lai Ching-te on a tour. To strengthen ties, president Lai characterised the king as a visionary.
Minister Mkhonta-Simelane stated that they are responsible for the strategic direction, governance, and performance of the national meetings and events center.
The board is intended to play an important role in protecting the government’s investment while also ensuring that the facility maximises its potential for generating tourist and event revenue to support economic growth.
They are responsible for oversight, strategy, and performance, as well as maintaining accountability for the government’s investment and promoting the ICC as a desirable venue for important events.
