Lagos, Nigeria – The AfCFTA Digital Trade Forum 2026 drew to a close in Lagos, Nigeria, on Thursday, July 2, 2026, around one shared commitment of building a connected, trusted and inclusive African digital market.
Presenting the Forum’s Eight Calls to Action, Gilberto Antonio, Chief Technical Advisor at the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, set the direction, noting that the AfCFTA Protocol on Digital Trade provides the framework, and implementation is now the priority.
In his closing remarks, AfCFTA Secretary-General H.E. Wamkele Mene said Africa holds the talent, innovation and expertise to lead its own digital transformation. 
Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole, restated the country’s commitment to advancing the Protocol’s implementation as its co-champion.
