Pretoria – Embattled South African businessman Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala’s schedule to appear before the Madlanga Commission tomorrow has changed, the Commission spokesperson, Jeremy Michaels, said.
Michaels attributed the change to ‘the heightened media and public interest in the testimony of Mr Vusimuzi Matlala’, announcing that Matlala’s personal appearance is being postponed to a date yet to be announced while his lawyer will only be appearing before the commission.
Last week, the Madlanga Commission subpoenaed Matlala for questioning. However, it was reported that Matlala would be appearing with a condition in place: he is not to be questioned about the Medicare 24 deal. 
Matlala has turned state witness, pleading guilty to fraud, corruption, and money laundering charges stemming from the South African Police Service (SAPS) R360 million tender.
The businessman behind private security and healthcare expansions is being held over 25 fraud, corruption, money laundering, and attempted murder charges over the SAPS tender mess of 2024.
His name is linked to evidence witnesses and leaders that have appeared before the Madlanga Commission after allegations that he played a central role in an underworld network of organised crime and institutional corruption implicating senior SAPS leaders.
