Maseru – His Majesty King Letsie III has commissioned Mr. Molefi Christopher Nyaka as the Ambassador Designate of the Kingdom of Lesotho to the United States of America.
The commissioning took place on Tuesday, 8 July 2026, according to Lesotho’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations.
Nyaka is a career diplomat and public servant with over 15 years of diplomatic and international relations experience. He currently serves as Director of Diaspora Affairs, having previously held the position of Director of Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations.

His diplomatic career includes serving as Counsellor at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Lesotho in Washington, D.C., Minister Counsellor for Europe and the Americas, and Human Resources Manager within the Ministry. Before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he served in the Ministry of Public Works as Human Resources Officer and Assistant Human Resources Officer.
Nyaka holds a Master of Arts in Development Studies, awarded in 2021, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Public Administration, awarded in 2003, both from the National University of Lesotho.
His professional experience spans diplomacy, international cooperation, consular services, diaspora engagement, migration management, multilateral and bilateral relations, trade negotiations, mediation, and conflict resolution, positioning him to advance the Kingdom of Lesotho’s strategic interests and strengthen the partnership between Lesotho and the United States.
The Ministry extended its congratulations to Nyaka on the appointment and wished him success as he undertakes the national assignment.
