Matola, Mozambique – A delegation from the Municipal Council of Mbabane, led by Mayor Cllr Thulani Mkhonto, travelled to Mozambique to take part in the Matola Business Forum and Trade Fair 2026, following an invitation from the city’s twin municipality of Matola.
The regional gathering drew policymakers, business leaders, and investors focused on sustainable economic growth and cross-border partnerships. Mbabane and Matola, which are linked as sister cities, said they share a common vision for a connected, business-friendly, and economically vibrant Southern Africa.
The Mbabane delegation held bilateral talks aimed at strengthening trade and investment pipelines between businesses in Eswatini and Mozambique, exchanging urban development practices to improve infrastructure and service delivery for residents, and opening market access for local entrepreneurs seeking to expand into regional markets. 
The council said the visit was part of efforts to keep Mbabane competitive and plugged into regional economic corridors by pursuing opportunities beyond the city’s borders.
Mbabane extended its gratitude to the City of Matola and its Mayor, Cllr Júlio José Parruque, for the hospitality shown to the delegation and for backing the spirit of sister-city collaboration.
