Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa has arrived in Durban, South Africa, ahead of the 46th Ordinary Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government.

Mnangagwa arrived at King Shaka International Airport a few hours ago and was received by South Africa’s Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Anna Tandi Moraka, Zimbabwean Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Professor Dr Amon Murwira and Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to South Africa Lovemore Mazemo.

The summit is being held at the Durban International Convention Centre under the theme, “Resilient, Sustainable and Inclusive Industrialisation through Infrastructure Development, Agricultural and Critical Minerals Transformation in Pursuit of a Just World.”

The regional gathering will discuss industrialisation, infrastructure development, agriculture, critical minerals, economic integration, peace and security.

The summit also seeks to move the SADC region from potential to production, promote value addition and turn regional commitments into practical results.

Zimbabwe said it remains committed to strengthening regional value chains, expanding intra African trade and ensuring that SADC integration creates tangible economic opportunities for people across the region.

Mnangagwa said the summit would provide an opportunity for leaders to unlock the value of shared infrastructure, agriculture and the region’s mineral wealth.

“I have safely arrived in Durban, South Africa, to participate in the 46th Ordinary Summit of Southern African Development Community (SADC) Heads of State and Government,” he said.

“This year, our region gathers under a pivotal theme: ‘Resilient, Sustainable and Inclusive Industrialisation through Infrastructure Development, Agricultural and Critical Minerals Transformation in Pursuit of a Just World.’”

“Zimbabwe remains deeply committed to driving regional integration. We look forward to fruitful deliberations that unlock the full potential of our shared infrastructure, agriculture, and vast mineral wealth,” said Mnangagwa.

“Together, we are building a stronger, self-sustaining SADC ecosystem that leaves no one and no place behind.”
