Two third country nationals leave Eswatini

MBABANE – Two third country nationals who had been temporarily residing in Eswatini have voluntarily returned to their countries of origin, government has announced.

The two nationals arrived in the Kingdom as part of the third and fourth groups received under the existing bilateral arrangement between the governments of Eswatini and the United States of America.

One of the individuals, a Mauritanian national, arrived in Eswatini in July 2026 as part of the fourth group.

He requested to return home so that he could reunite with his family. Government facilitated the necessary arrangements, and he departed for Mauritania on Saturday, 15 August 2026.

The second individual, a national of the Democratic Republic of Congo, was part of the third group. He voluntarily left Eswatini on Sunday, 16 August 2026, after requesting to return home and reunite with his family.

The development was announced in a government statement issued on Tuesday by Acting Government Spokesperson Thabile Mdluli.

Government said the departures formed part of ongoing arrangements involving third country nationals who are temporarily residing in Eswatini.

A number of the nationals have requested voluntary repatriation and expressed a desire to return to their respective countries of origin.

“Government is engaging with the relevant authorities and partners to facilitate such requests in accordance with the applicable arrangements and procedures,” Mdluli said.

Government said it remained committed to protecting the rights and wellbeing of the third country nationals during their temporary stay in Eswatini.

It also said it would continue safeguarding the security and interests of the Kingdom and its people.

The public will be informed of further developments relating to the third country nationals.
