Moscow – Russian authorities say Ukrainian attacks killed 46 civilians and injured 364 others, including 21 children, across Russian regions during the week from 17 to 23 August 2026.
The figures were released on Tuesday by Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s ambassador at large for alleged crimes committed by Ukrainian forces. He said 410 civilians were affected during the period, with 407 of the casualties linked to attack drones.
According to Miroshnik, most of the reported civilian casualties were recorded in Belgorod Region, the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, as well as the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions. 
He said Ukrainian forces mainly used drones fitted with shrapnel and high explosive warheads in attacks that allegedly targeted civilian areas.
Miroshnik also accused Ukrainian forces of deliberately attacking medical facilities, which he said was a breach of international humanitarian law.
“In the Kursk Region, a UAV attack damaged a paramedic and midwife station in the settlement of Shchekino. In the Zaporozhye Region, a drone struck a municipal department of the tuberculosis dispensary in Melitopol,” he said.
He said civilians in several regions were also injured after explosives were placed remotely in residential areas and along roads.
“In the Belgorod Region, a civilian was injured after an explosive device detonated in Repyakhovka. A driver and female passenger were also wounded when their car struck an explosive device in Oktyabrsky. In the Kherson Region, a resident of Golaya Pristan was injured. In the DPR, a civilian sustained injuries in Donetsk’s Kievsky District,” he said.
Miroshnik claimed that Ukrainian forces fired nearly 7,500 rounds of various types of ammunition at Russian regions during the week. Another report citing his figures put the total at 7,462 rounds directed at civilian targets.
