MBABANE – Road safety enforcement in Eswatini has received a boost with the handover of a state-of-the-art Alcohol Evidence Truck from Eswatini Beverages to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
The vehicle, which functions as a fully equipped mobile evidence centre, was officially handed over on Thursday to the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Chief Ndlaluhlaza Ndwandwe, during a ceremony attended by stakeholders from the public and private sectors.
The Alcohol Evidence Truck will allow police officers to conduct on-site alcohol testing and process evidence for potential prosecutions in cases involving drunk driving. The mobile unit is designed to preserve the integrity of samples from the point of collection to their presentation in court, helping to reduce tampering risks and ensure more reliable prosecution outcomes. 
Speaking at the event, Eswatini Beverages Country Director, Ms. Doreen Tumureebire, said the company’s support aligns with ongoing national and global road safety efforts. She acknowledged the work of road safety partners under the Ministry’s leadership and said Eswatini Beverages remains committed to the country’s goal of halving road traffic fatalities by 2030.
Minister Ndwandwe welcomed the truck as a critical tool for improving the operational capacity of the Royal Eswatini Police Service, particularly in cases involving alcohol-impaired driving. He said the truck would improve the secure collection, storage, and transportation of alcohol samples, thereby strengthening evidence handling in court cases.
