Mbabane – Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini on Tuesday received a business delegation from Turkmenistan at the Private and Cabinet Office in Mbabane as the two countries take early steps to build economic cooperation following the establishment of diplomatic relations in August last year.
The delegation, led by Mr Abdurakhmanov Khydyrberdi Bayrammyradovich, the owner and founder of Aydyn Gijeler Holding LTD, is in the Kingdom on a business scoping mission mandated by the Government of Turkmenistan to explore investment opportunities and strengthen bilateral ties with Eswatini.
Discussions during the courtesy visit centred on areas of potential investment within the Kingdom, with the delegation expressing interest in sourcing sugar from Eswatini as part of future commercial engagements. The visit forms part of broader efforts to translate diplomatic relations into practical economic partnerships.
Members of the delegation also spoke positively about Eswatini’s scenery and the welcoming nature of its people, noting the country’s prospects as a tourism destination alongside its agricultural and commercial potential.
Prime Minister Dlamini welcomed the delegation and said Government was open to partnerships that support economic growth and development. He indicated that Eswatini was ready to work with Turkmenistani companies in building mutually beneficial ventures and strengthening the cordial relations between the two nations.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Senator Pholile Shakantu, the Minister of Home Affairs HRH Princess Lindiwe, and Eswatini’s Ambassador to the United Nations in New York, H E Thami Dlamini.
