Maguga – South Africa’s Minister of Water and Sanitation, Pemmy Majodina, visited the Maguga Dam and Maguga Hydro Power Station on Saturday, March 14, 2026, praising the facility as a strong example of regional cooperation and sustainable infrastructure.

During the tour, Minister Majodina noted that the project reflects the close partnership between Eswatini and South Africa and could serve as a model for other countries in Southern Africa.

The Eswatini Electricity Company plans to expand the Maguga Hydro Power Station to boost energy security and sustainability. The upgrade is expected to increase local electricity generation by 13 percent, reduce dependence on imported power, support job creation, and lower carbon emissions.
