Mbabane – The Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) has announced planned power interruptions across several parts of the country on Thursday, May 7, and Friday, May 8, 2026, due to routine maintenance and service construction work.
On Thursday, May 7, the Siteki depot will cut power to Ntandweni and Siweni from 9am to 4pm for routine maintenance. The Mankayane depot will affect the Sidwala area from 9am to 4:30pm, while the Manzini depot will interrupt supply to Lwandle, including Ncome, MTN, Ekuphileni and Moneni, from 9am to 4pm.
Also on Thursday, the Siteki depot will carry out new connections affecting Mantshonga and Sithobela between 11am and 3pm. The Malkerns depot will be among the busiest, with substation maintenance scheduled from 6am to 8am and again from 3pm to 5pm affecting a wide range of areas. 
Those affected by the Malkerns substation work include Gucuka next to the high school, KaBhunu and surrounding areas, RFG, Malkerns CBD, Malkerns Square, Thorn Tree Complex, Phakama, Malkerns Schools, the EEC Depot and Revenue office, Khanyisile Village, Malkerns Police Station, Mbetseni, Eagles Nest, Esters Lodge, Fritz Patrick’s Farm, Valley Butchery, Swazi Candles, Umbane Farm, Luyengo Settlement, Ntondozi High Site, Ncabaneni, Farm Chemicals, Mawelawela, Mdutjana Correctional Facilities, OK Foods, Luyengo UNISWA, Mdojane, Africa Chicks, Horse Shoe Farm, Ncabaneni Clinic, Ncabaneni Primary and Ncabaneni High School.
Routine maintenance by the Malkerns depot will also affect Prime Logistics, Montigny Fuel Pump, Zondwako, Engwenyeni, C2 Nursery and surrounding areas from 9am to 4pm.
The Madlangempisi area, including Bulandzeni and surrounding areas, will lose power from 9:30am to 4pm, while Hluti will carry out work in Elangeni from 10am to 4:30pm. Thumbela’s Esitjeni, near the primary school and surrounding areas, will be affected from 9am to 4pm due to routine maintenance and service construction.
The Matsapha depot will interrupt supply to Mfabantfu, Mabhengu store, Mbolwaneni and Mtsetfwa store from 9am to 4pm. Stonehenge will affect Siphocosini, Sithobela and surrounding areas from 9am to 4pm.
On Friday, May 8, the Siteki depot will carry out streetlight installation work in the Siteki CBD from 9am to 4pm.
The EEC urged members of the public to treat all electricity structures as live throughout the duration of the interruptions, regardless of whether power appears to be off in their area.
