Mbabane – The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the immediate resumption of ID card production services across the Kingdom of Eswatini, ending a period of disruption that left many citizens unable to access the essential documents.
The ministry expressed gratitude to stakeholders who worked to resolve the technical issues affecting the ID production system, though it did not specify the nature of the breakdown or how long services had been down.
Applicants who enrolled during the breakdown period are being asked to return to the service centres where they originally submitted their applications to check on or collect their ID cards. 
First-time applicants and those requiring re-issues can now visit their nearest service centre to begin the application process. ID card services are currently available at nine centres across the country, including Pigg’s Peak, Mbabane, Manzini, Mankayane, Simunye, Siphofaneni, Matata, Nhlangano and Hluthi.
The ministry is warning the public to expect long queues at these centres in the coming weeks, as demand is expected to spike following the restoration of services.
“The public’s patience and understanding is kindly requested, as our staff work diligently to assist everyone promptly and efficiently,” the ministry said in a statement signed by Principal Secretary N.R. Nxumalo on Sunday, 25 May 2026.
The ministry said it remains committed to ensuring that every citizen receives accurate and timely identification documents and to maintaining normal operations going forward to limit disruptions of this nature.
