The Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini has unveiled the Grand Plan for National Transformation, a long-term strategy aimed at improving wealth, service delivery, and well-being across the country. Acting Government Spokesperson Thabile Mdluli said the plan reflects His Majesty King Mswati III’s vision for Eswatini to achieve developed country status.
The initiative comes after extensive consultations at the 2023 Sibaya People’s Parliament, where citizens raised concerns about high unemployment, poverty, slow economic growth, corruption, and challenges in health and education services. The plan stresses that strong economic performance and good governance are essential for meeting citizens’ needs.
Still in draft form, the Grand Plan is undergoing further stakeholder consultations. Feedback will be presented to Cabinet before submission to His Majesty for final approval.
A team of young emaSwati professionals, some with international experience, is leading the development of the plan. Government noted that the strategy is a collaborative effort and called on all citizens to support the King’s vision for national transformation.
The plan is seen as a key step in positioning Eswatini to take advantage of monarchical democracy to achieve economic stability and growth under His Majesty’s leadership.
