Ezulwini – Young innovators from the University of Eswatini were recognised on Thursday afternoon after excelling in the Eswatini Inflation Forecasting Challenge, a data driven competition focused on predicting headline inflation for September and October 2025.
The event was hosted by the Central Bank of Eswatini at its Mbabane headquarters, bringing together partners from the tech and economic sectors to honour students who took part under the IndabaX Hackathon banner. Participants used big data tools to produce forecasts that judges described as rigorous and well researched.

Governor Dr Phil Mnisi commended the students during the ceremony, noting their strong grasp of economic trends and modern technology shaping the financial landscape. He told the group that their work showed readiness to engage with real world economic challenges.
The top performers were Philile Mthethwa, Khayalethu Zwane, Brian Msane and Thandokuhle Nhlabatsi, who were recognised for delivering the most accurate projections in the competition.
