Matsapha – The Royal Eswatini Police Service has opened an inquest into the death of a 65 year old man from the Nhlambeni area who was found with severe burn injuries at a rented flat in Ludzeludze.
The incident occurred on 24 December 2025 at about 2230 hours when the man’s daughter discovered him inside the flat with extensive burn wounds across his body. The source of the fire remains unknown, and police say the man’s property was partially damaged by the flames.
Emergency services transported the victim to RFM Hospital in Manzini, where he was certified dead on arrival. The matter was formally reported to the police on Saturday, 27 December 2025.
Police in Matsapha confirmed that an inquest docket has been opened to establish the circumstances surrounding the death. Investigations are continuing as officers seek to determine how the fire started and the events leading up to the incident.
