Maputo, Mozambique – The Incomati and Maputo Watercourse Commission took part in the Post Flood Water Resources Symposium 2026 held in Maputo, Mozambique, where regional leaders gathered to address the aftermath of recent floods and future preparedness.
INMACOM Executive Secretary Sindy Mthimkhulu attended the high level meeting, which was convened by Mozambique’s Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources under the leadership of Minister Fernando Rafael.
The symposium brought together policymakers, academics, engineers and strategic partners to assess the impact of the 2025 and 2026 floods on river basins and key infrastructure across Mozambique. Discussions centred on improving early warning systems, strengthening infrastructure resilience, enhancing regional cooperation and securing financing for disaster preparedness.
Mthimkhulu’s participation placed Eswatini within the broader regional response, as INMACOM continues to play a role in cross border water management affecting the Incomati and Maputo river systems shared by Eswatini, Mozambique and South Africa.
Beyond technical contributions, INMACOM also supported the event through branded t shirts and banners, reinforcing its presence and commitment to collaborative solutions in water governance.
